Two former Major Marathon winners to attend Kent Coach & Athlete Development Days.

• Headlines »

Discussions are under way to formulate an event where we can enter a Kent County team against other Counties.

Top athletes to attend Kent development days.

The services, knowledge and experience of two former Major Marathon winners have been secured to help with the development of the Kent Road Running squad.

Mike Gratton who won the London Marathon in 1983 in 2:09:43 will work with the squad on December 6th 2009.

Paul Evans won the Chicago Marathon in 1996 in 2:08:52 will attend the fourth day at Julie Rose Stadium on March 28th 2010.

County Team!

The team behind the development of road running in Kent are working hard to use an existing event and recipricol teams from other counties to compete in Spring 2010.  We feel this is an essential part of road running development across the region.  Once we have more news we will update you via this website.

Kent Athletics Road Running Squad

The road running squad is led by Janice Moorekite who is supported by Peter Brenchley and Neil Clark. This team brings a wealth of experience to the squad and is able to draw on each others strengths to enhance the learning, development and squad day experience for the athlete.

The Kent Athletics RR Squad is designed to improve the strength in depth of our elite athletes and provide a base from which we can select future teams as our coaches will have seen the progress of the athletes over a period of time as oppose to a single race result.

It is our hope that the County squad will feed naturally into the Regional Squad which, together will provide a pathway for athlete development for Road Runners.
